Millions of people in rural India still live in darkness. Basic primary needs such as a toilet is a luxury for many. The major problem India faces today is the population explosion, along with poverty and illiteracy creates a harsh living environment.

The Tulsi Savitri Maternal and Child Health Care Project was started to help the rural population of 45,000 in and around Coimbatore District. The aim is to create awareness and initiate social development. The focus point of the project is on mother and child health, ensuring safe motherhood and raising healthy children into small families. The project is split into two areas; medical and non-medical.
